Tit Bits?

Akbar's court was famous for the witty question answer sessions. On one such occasion - Akbar asked his courtiers whether they could tell the difference between the truth and the false within three words. All courtiers got busy in finding out the three words or less to tell the difference between the truth and the false. However, enough time passed and they could not tell.
"What about you, Birbal?"  "His Majesty!" Birbal looked around and replied, "Four fingers" The King got surprised and asked him, "How, Birbal?" "Yes, Your Majesty, this is the difference between truth and false. Because what your eyes see is truth, and what your ears hear, more often than not, may be false."
"That is right, but then why do you say "four fingers"?" Akbar said. Birbal bowed a little and said, "Because Your Majesty, only four fingers is the distance between ear and eyes." Akbar was very astonished to hear this reply.
On another occasion - Akbar drew a line on the floor and asked his courtiers to shorten it without touching it. No courtier could do it. The Birbal came forward and drew another longer line beside it. Now the King's line was shorter than Birbal's line.
On another occasion, Akbar asked what that thing which sun and moon cannot see is but others can see. As usual his courtiers could not get a even a clue. Then Birbal said, "Darkness, Huzoor."

A Little Lesser and a Little More

One-day Birbal's five-year old daughter accompanied him to the Royal Court. When Akbar saw her, it just came to his mind that he should test her wits whether she had the same type of wits as her father had.
He started talking to her. "Do you know Persian, O little girl?" "A little lesser and a little more, Sir" The girl replied. Birbal smiled on her reply, but Akbar could not understand it, so he asked Birbal to explain this.
Birbal said, "She knows Persian a little more than those who do not know Persian, and knows a little lesser than those who know Persian well."
Akbar understood that she had the same wits as her father.

Birbal's Beautiful Explanation

One day the Emperor Akbar saw a woman hugging and kissing a very dark, ugly and unattractive child. He was very surprised to see that. He thought and thought but could not think why? He asked Birbal that why she was doing that to such an unattractive child. Birbal replied innocently, "Huzoor, he must have been her own child. For every mother her own child is the most beautiful child in the world."
The Emperor did not seem to be convinced with this explanation, and Birbal had guessed this from the Emperor's face. Next day, in the presence of the Emperor, Birbal ordered a Guard to present the most beautiful child in the world in the court. Next day, the Guard brought a more unattractive and ugly child with buckteeth and his hair stood like a porcupine and presented to the Emperor. "This is the most beautiful child in the world, your majesty," the Guard stammered.

The Emperor asked, "How do you know that he is the most beautiful child in the world?" "Your Majesty, I went home and posed my problem to my wife. She told me to bring our child to the court." the Guard replied meekly.

Mullah’s Flattering Answer
One day, the Mullah Nasruddin was going back after having an audience with the Emperor that his one coin fell down from his pocket. It was the only money he had at that time so he started immediately looking for it. Muraad, who was his one of his bitterest enemies at the court, said, "See Your Majesty, how miser he is? You have bestowed so much money on him; still he is after a copper coin."
Mullah said quickly, "It is not because of the value of the coin, Your Majesty that I am looking for it. I am looking for it because one side of that coin bears your resemblance, and I don't want people trampling on it."
Sultan was so pleased to hear this reply that he pulled off his diamond ring from his finger and gave it to the Mullah.

The Mullah Uses His Head

One time it happened so that the Mullah Nasruddin displeasured the Sultan, so the Sultan asked one of his men to slay him and bring him his head.

The Mullah was very upset with this. He went to Birbal and asked him how to save himself. Birbal said, "It is a difficult situation but let me try. Rest is your luck." In addition, he told him how to act.

The Mullah, however, could persuade the man to take him alive to the court. Sultan was very furious seeing Mullah alive in his court. He asked the soldier, "Didn't I tell you to bring Mullah’s head to the Court, not the Mullah himself?"   The Mullah Nasruddin said politely, "It is not his fault, Huzoor. I asked him to do so. You know whenever you want anything done; I do not trust anybody else lest it is badly done. Therefore, I thought let me do it myself. Therefore, I decided to bring my head myself on my shoulder. My head is here, Huzoor."

Akbar was very pleased with this defense that he allowed Mullah to keep his head on his shoulder.

Lord Shiva in the form of Rudras.
Atharva Veda has given a lot for the betterment of humanity. It has a lot of Thantras. Out of these Thantras, two Thantras play a vital role in giving remedy to various problems faced by the common human being. They are Shiva Rudra Thantra and Vishnu Malya Thantra.According to Shiva Rudra Thantra, Lord Shiva has 108 poses. Each one is capable of healing some kind of problems. During the past issues we discussed about a few. In this issue also I wish to tell about some more shapes of Lord Shiva.
BRAHMA KAPAALA DHARA MOORTHY.

At the time of the reconstruction of this universe Brahma, the creator of this universe created this universe. On this affair he had a proud that I’m more than Lord Shiva. So, Lord Shiva got angry and cut one of the heads of Brahma. Till that time Brahma also had five heads as Lord Shiva. Only after this incident Brahma become the deity with four heads. In this pose Lord Shiva has four hands. The first right hand is adorned with “two faced trisulam” [a six headed weapon]. His second right hand is adorned with an axe to cut off the sins and evil spirits of the devotees. His second left hand is adorned with “trisulam” [a three headed weapon]. His first left hand is adorned with the skull of Brahma. This deity shows a proper judgment and punishment will be given to the persons who commit mistakes. By praying this deity one can have a very good judging capacity. This deity is to be worshipped by the Magistrates and Judges and by their prayer they can give the best judgments and earn a very good name and fame.

MAHESWARA MOORTHY.

Easwara means the leader. Maheswara is the leader of leaders. By praying him one can be the best leader. This is the deity to be worshipped by the politicians and leaders. They can establish their position well. In this position Lord Shiva is having five faces and ten hands. He is the creator of the Vedas. From his east facing face he created Sama Veda. From the south facing face he created RigVeda. From the west facing face he created Atharvana Veda. From the top facing face he created 28 Shiva aagamas. As he is the creator of Vedas he is the symbol of knowledge. By praying him one can have the best knowledge. If a student prays he or she can be the best in their studies and they will establish their skills. Out of his 10 hands, the first right hand is the blessing hand. The second right hand is adorned with an axe to cut off the sins and the evil spirits of his devotees. The third right hand is adorned with a knife to cut off the enemies and agyanam [foolishness] of his devotees. His fourth right hand is adorned with a double headed trisulam [two three headed weapons kept in opposite directions]. His fifth right hand is adorned with a trisulam. His fifth left hand is adorned with a curved stick to pull the hearts and minds of his devotees towards him. The fourth left hand is adorned with a fire torch to remove the darkness and lack of knowledge. His third left hand is adorned with a bell to inform his arrival. His second left hand is adorned with a rope to tie the enemies of his devotees. His first left hand is adorned with a snake to bite the evil spirits of his devotees. By praying them we can become the best in our field and we will be the best leader.

EAASAANA MOORTHY.

As seen earlier Lord Shiva is having five faces. The top face and the first face is Easaana moorthy. He is the creator of SamaVeda and music. Those who wish to establish their name in the field of music and fine arts should pray this deity. In this shape Lord Shiva is having five faces and ten hands. The first right hand is the blessing hand. The second right hand is adorned with trisulam. The third right hand is adorned with a garland made of rudraksha to denote the knowledge and meditating skills. The fourth right hand is adorned with a curved stick to pull the heart and minds of his devotees towards him. The fifth right hand is adorned with an axe to cut off the sins and evil spirits of his devotees. The fifth left hand is adorned with a small drum like musical instrument which is called as “Damarukam” in Sanskrit and in Tamil it is called as “udukkai” and a snake is used as the handle of the instrument. The fourth left hand is adorned with a rope to tie the enemies of his devotees. The third left hand is adorned with a bunch of palm leaves called as “suvadi” in Tamil to show the knowledge and wisdom. The second left hand is adorned with a skull to frighten the enemies of his devotees. The first left hand is the giving hand. As he is having a bunch of palm leaves to show the knowledge and wisdom, he is the best deity for the students to gain the best knowledge. If a student worships this deity it is sure that the student will be the best in education, knowledge and wisdom.

THATHPURUSHA MOORTHY.

As he is a guard, we can have the best security and we can come across all the evil spirits from the eastern side. As he is the creator of Sama Veda, he is the best for the people who wish to earn name and fame in the field of music and SamaVeda.

AGORA MOORTHY.

His first left hand is adorned with a skull to frighten the enemies of his devotees. As he is the creator of Atharva Veda, he is the best for atharva Veda and tantric practitioners. As he is having “suvadi” in his hand we can have a very good knowledge and wisdom.

VAAMADEVA MOORTHY.

As seen earlier Lord Shiva is having five faces. The west facing face is called Vamadeva moorthy. He guards us in the north side. He is yellow color. In this shape he is having four faces and four hands. His first right hand is the blessing hand. His second right hand is adorned with an axe to cut off the sins and evil spirits of his devotees. His second left hand is adorned with a garland made of rudraksha which is the best for meditation. His first left hand is the giving hand. As he is the creator of Rig Veda, Vedic pundits should prey this Lord to show and establish their skills and talents. Those who wish to have the best meditation skills

“Too bad the world - what nonsense it is”

Janshi was a clever girl. She was studying in 5th standard. Her father Peter, when he came from his office, found with tediousness. Janshi’s mother asked her husband about his health. Peter replied her that his health was good but his mind is not alright. ‘Why’ asked her mother. It is nonsense! What is this world, we could witness only cheating and greediness, and who is going to reform it? From the top level to bottom every where the bribery is ruling – it will go to hell and could never become justful. He talked a long discourse. Why are you worrying too much. What happened to you tell me, asked the mother.

“In my office Francis, an assistant came to the job four years later to me and he bribed the officials and came to the high post. It is unjust and sin. It was actually a quarrel and I came out from that scene. On the way I wanted to buy flowers for you. It was two measure by hand length. That lady received money and gave it. When I measured it for my satisfaction it was not two but, one and a half only. That flower seller too cheat every body. Above all when I catched the Bus, some one made pick pocket and stole it. Chi, what is this – it is hell and no one could live with their own mean explained the father of Janshi. The mother accepted his views and consoled him. “Yes it is real, even if noble persons and Reformers come and teach the world, no body is going to hear good things and there is no possibility to get a good change early”.

When the parents were engaged in this conversation, Janshi came closer to them. The mother did not want to speek further while the child was along with them. “See Janshi you better go out and play”.  Janshi went nearer to the seat of her father. He wontedly torn the map of world and handed over to his daughter and instructed her to paste it again in proper way. She actually took the stain to paste it properly and brought it. Father found her task to be so neat and fast and asked her “how did you managed to do this job neatly”.

She told with an enthusiasm. Father, there was one picture of man on the back side of map. I took care to paste from head to foot of the man properly.  There it is automatically coincided to get the world map in true form. “If an individual person repent himself then the world will naturally reformed properly”. This is what the real theme which Janshi exhibited just then.

Maha Mantras, an Introduction by Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar
A mahamantra is a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that is considered capable of "creating transformation”. Its use and type varies according to the school and philosophy associated with the mantra. Mahamantras originated in the Vedic tradition of India, later becoming an essential part of the Hindu tradition and a customary practice within Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. The use of mahamantras is now widespread throughout various spiritual movements which are based on or off-shoots of, the practices in the earlier Eastern traditions and religions. The Aum syllable is considered a mahamantra in its own right in Vedanta mysticism.
In the context of the Vedas, the term mahamantra refers to the entire portion which contains the texts called Rig, Yaju, Sama and/or Atharvana, that is, the metrical part as opposed to the prose Brahmana commentary. With the transition from ritualistic Vedic traditions to mystical and egalitarian Hindu schools of Yoga, Vedanta, Thantra and Bhakti, the orthodox attitude of the elite nature of mantra knowledge gave way to spiritual interpretations of mantras as a translation of the human will or desire into a form of action.
For the authors of the Hindu scriptures of the Upanishads, the syllable Aum, itself constituting a mantra, represents Brahman, the godhead, as well as the whole of creation. These sounds are manifestations of ultimate reality, in the sense of sound symbolism postulating that the vocal sounds of the mantra have inherent meaning independent of the understanding of the person uttering them.
Nevertheless, such understanding of what a mahamantra may symbolize or how it may function differs throughout the various traditions and also depends on the context in which it is written or sounded. In some instances there are multiple layers of symbolism associated with each sound, many of which are specific to particular schools of thought. For an example of such see the syllable: Aum which is central to both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. However, written mantra-repetition in Hindu practices, with Sanskrit in any number of scripts, is well-known to many sects in India as well.Mahamantras, the Sanskrit syllables inscribed on yantras, are essentially 'thought forms' representing divinities or cosmic powers, which exert their influence by means of sound-vibrations. The Sanskrit word mahamantra consists of the root man- "to think" (also in manas "mind") and the suffix -tra, designating tools or instruments, hence a literal translation would be "instrument of thought.” The Sanskrit grammar defines mantra as “mananaththrayateithimantraha,” which means if anyone thinks of the mantra, it saves the person.
Manthras are inherently "true" (aša), and the proper recitation of them brings about (realizes) what is inherently true in them. It may then be said that mantras are both an expression of being and "right working" and the recitation of them is crucial to the maintenance of order and being.
The most basic mahamantra is Aum, which in Hinduism is known as the "pranava mantra," the source of all mahamantras. The Hindu philosophy behind this is the idea of nama-rupa (name-form), which supposes that all things, ideas or entities in existence, within the phenomenological cosmos, have name and form of some sort. The most basic name and form is the primordial vibration of Aum, as it is the first manifested nama-rupa of Brahman, the unmanifest reality/unreality. Essentially, before existence and beyond existence is only One reality, Brahma, and the first manifestation of Brahma in existence is Aum. For this reason, Aum is considered to be the most fundamental and powerful mahamantra, and thus is prefixed and suffixed to all Hindu prayers. While some mantras may invoke individual Gods or principles, the most fundamental mantras, like 'Aum,' the 'Shanti Mantra,' the 'Gayatri Mantra' and others all ultimately focus on the One reality.
In the Hindu Thantra the universe is sound. The supreme (para) brings forth existence through the Word (Shabda). Creation consists of vibrations at various frequencies and amplitudes giving rise to the phenomena of the world. The purest vibrations are the var.na, the imperishable letters which are revealed to us, imperfectly as the audible sounds and visible forms.

Varnas are the atoms of sound. A complex symbolic association was built up between letters and the elements, gods, signs of the zodiac, parts of the body – letters became rich in these associations. For example in the Aitrareya-aranya-Upanishad we find that the mute consonants represent the earth, the sibilants the sky, the vowels heaven. The mute consonants represent fire, the sibilants air and the vowels the sun. The mute consonants represent the eye, the sibilants the ear, the vowels the mind. In effect, each letter became a mahamantra and the language of the Vedas, Sanskrit, corresponds profoundly to the nature of things. Thus the Vedas come to represent reality itself. The seed syllable Aum represents the underlying unity of reality, which is Brahman.
There are several forms of Mahamantra as follows:
Bhajan: spiritual songs.
Kirtan: repetition of God's name in songs.
Prayer: a way of communing with God.
Guru mahamantra: the first initiation (Diksha) given by the master to the disciple.
Bijamahamantra: a bijamahamantra represents the essence of a mahamantra (e.g. Om).
The chanting of Mahamantra is called as Mahamantra Japa.Mahamantrajapa was a concept of the Vedic sages that incorporates mahamantras as one of the main forms of puja, or worship, whose ultimate end is seen as moksha/liberation. Essentially, mahamantrajapa means repetition of mahamantraand it has become an established practice of all Hindu streams, from the various Yoga to Thantra. It involves repetition of a mantra over and over again, usually in cycles of auspicious numbers (in multiples of three), the most popular being 108. For this reason, Hindu malas (bead necklaces) developed, containing 108 beads and a head bead (sometimes referred to as the 'meru', or 'guru' bead). The devotee performing japa using his/her fingers counts each bead as he/she repeats the chosen mahamantra. Having reached 108 repetitions, if he/she wishes to continue another cycle of mahamantras, the devotee must turn the mala around without crossing the head bead and repeat. To attain single-pointedness of mind, repetition of mahamantra's can be done in the following ways:
Mahamantra Yoga (chanting), Japa Yoga: VaikhariJapa (speaking), UpamsuJapa (whispering or humming)
ManasikaJapa (mental repetition), and LikhitaJapa (writing).

It is said that through japa the devotee attains one-pointedness, or extreme focus, on the chosen deity or principal idea of the mahamantra. The vibrations and sounds of the mahamantra are considered extremely important, and thus reverberations of the sound are supposed to awaken the Kundalini or spiritual life force and even stimulate chakras according to many Hindu schools of thought. Any shloka from holy Hindu texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutra, even the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Durgasaptashati or Chandi are considered powerful enough to be repeated to great effect, and have therefore the status of mahamantra. The use of Mahamantras is described in various texts which constitute Mantra Shastra (shastra, sastra: law-book, rule or treatise). Some of the major books which are used as reference for MahamantraShastra areParasuramaKalpa Sutra, SharadaTilakam, Lakshmi Thantra,  and Prapanchasara.
It is very hard to select the mantra by an individual. One mantra, which is considered as the best one for one person may not be so useful for the other one. So, before selecting a mantra, the horoscope is to be checked by a Guru, who is well versed in Atharva Veda and Atharva Vedic Astrology. Only after analyzing the planetary positions of an individual the mantra and the methods of chanting the mantra are to be decided. Contact 1-888-808-1418 to get all kinds of clarifications to begin a Mahamantra Japa and have the best in your life by the blessings of Atharva Veda Yaksha/Yakshini Devathas.

Hanuman Shrine

When I got interested in yoga and meditation in my teens, I had no interest in the Hindu deities, especially not a 'Monkey God.' I found the idea repulsive; an embarrassing and "sinful" aspect of becoming a yogi, like worshipping Aaron's 'Golden Calf' of the Old Testament. It took several years to finally become liberated from my narrow minded Judeo-Christian misconceptions, which said that Hinduism is a polytheistic religion for heathens! Now I don't mind being considered a heathen as long as I can worship Hanuman. Since understanding that all the Hindu deities are merely different forms of the one God, I say, "Go Hanuman!Bajrang Bali Ki Jai!"

Why Worship?
Worshipping is what we already do, all the time, we just don't realize it. Our minds naturally worship something. To worship simply means to focus our attention with devotion, and most of the time we're devoted to fulfilling our material desires. Martin Luther said, "Whatever your heart clings to and confides in, that is really your God." We worship money, fancy cars, luxurious homes, cool gadgets, offering huge sacrifices to attain these, while regularly prostrating at the modern temple: the Shopping Mall.

Whatever we aspire to and put our attention on grows, and how we worship today has sprouted our materialistic society. We have things, but not peace, since they get lost, broken, or tie us down to hefty loans, etc. The only lasting peace comes from directing our monkey minds toward God: the ultimate worship.

However, it's awfully hard for the mind to conceive of God at all. God is described as avachaniya in Hindi, unspeakable. It's much easier to focus on a form of God, or deity. Mata Amritanandamayi says, “Name and form are ladders to reach the formless Divine."Focusing our minds on a tangible form of God leads us to the intangible infinite.

Why Worship Hanuman?
By worshipping a deity we increase that deity's divine qualities within us. Hanuman represents a range of qualities that are extremely helpful, especially when we're going through difficult times - devotion, faith, courage, strength, and power. These are the qualities that are most lacking when we're emotionally discouraged and depressed. Therefore, worshipping Hanuman during difficulties (or anytime) is time well invested and provides instant relief.
Hanuman Heart
Hanuman as SankatMochan: Dispeller of Distress
A common epithet for Hanuman is SankatMochan, or dispeller of distress. Hanuman represents absolute faith and devotion to God as Ram. Sita and Ram always live in his heart, which he proves when he rips it open. It's a universal principle that when we're devoted to an ideal greater than ourselves we're relieved of our stress and petty concerns. Mahatma Gandhi said, "The best way to find your self is to lose yourself in the service of others."Hanuman is always ready to serve Ram, a higher ideal, and by worshipping him we acquire this divine quality. Simultaneously our distress is removed. Hanuman is called KripaNidhan, the abode of grace, due to this quality of removing distress.

Hanuman as Bajrang Bali: Strength Like Lightning
Another common epithet for Hanuman is Bajrang Bali, or body with strength like lightning. He gives the strength and courage to overcome difficulties quickly, just like lightning strikes quickly and powerfully. He's also called the Son of the Wind, and gets the job done swiftly, like the wind. There's no whimpering or vulnerability in Hanuman, as he meets every challenge with the power of the name of God on his lips. He's often depicted as kneeling on one knee, ready to spring into action to serve Ram, like an Eveready Battery fully charged.

The Ramayana is full of Hanuman's acts of bravery and superhuman power making him the ultimate superhero. He has the faith to move mountains, which he does when he carries a whole mountainside filled with the sacred herb, Sanjivani, to heal Ram's brother, Lakshman. He can also make himself large at will, which he does to burn down Lanka and defeat Ravana's demon warriors. Likewise, he can make himself small, which he did to enter Ravana's palace undetected and find Sita. Therefore, Hanuman represents the ability to conjure up whatever qualities are necessary in the moment: to rise to the occasion to face our challenges, or make ourselves small and humble. His attitude is,"Whatever it takes, I'll do it 100%," as he fulfills Ram's work and brings goodness into the world. This is the attitude we need to become successful at any endeavor.
Hanuman Holding Mountain
Hanuman and Ram Hugging

Worship without devotion is just a rote mechanical practice. But once the heart is enlivened, then worship becomes that much better, regardless of which form of God you're worshipping: Krishna, Lakshmi, Shiva, Ganesh, Buddha, Christ, Muhammad, etc. For this reason, worshipping Hanuman can be considered a supportive practice that helps one become a better devotee of one's chosen form of God, or religion. Ultimately, Hanuman takes us beyond devotion to a form, towards devotion to serving Ram in all forms and seeing God's omnipresence everywhere (sarvavyapak).

Hanuman in Astrology: The Subduer of Saturn and Mars
Hanuman is worshipped primarily on Tuesdays, Mars's day, in north India, and on Saturdays, Saturn's day, in south India. So Hanuman is associated with both Mars and Saturn. He represents Mars's qualities, but is primarily a remedy for Saturn.

Hanuman represents Mars because he's a warrior, like Mars, and represents power, strength, courage, energy, etc. which are all qualities of Mars. Hanuman is also associated with the color red or red-orange and the gem red coral, just like Mars. Hanuman balances the negative aspects of Mars like self-centered desire and ambition, impulsivity, domination, control, etc. by directing his entire energy towards service to a higher ideal, Ram. Hanuman's actions are life affirming because they're devoted to goodness, which Ram represents. This counters the destructive, aggressive force of Mars. Just like fire can be either destructive or purifying, Hanuman directs the fiery quality of Mars toward positive outcomes. For instance, in the Ramayana he burned down Ravana's stronghold of Lanka, which represents the purification of our ego-centered thoughts. Therefore, Hanuman is a remedy for Mars's afflictions in the natal chart.

However, Hanuman is primarily considered a remedy for Saturn's afflictions in the natal chart, not Mars. Hanuman is the perfect antidote for Saturn because his qualities balance such a long list of Saturn's negative qualities, as shown in the following table:

Hanuman represents the positive qualities of Mars, like strength, courage, and energy, which are antidotes for the weakness, fear, and laziness that an afflicted Saturn represents. Hanuman also represents a major shift in attitude from Saturn's sense of limitation to unlimited possibilities, from selfishness to selflessness, from closed hearted bitterness to open hearted devotion, from seeing responsibilities as a burden rather than as joyous service. Therefore, to call upon Hanuman facilitates a transformation of a whole slew of negative, misery inducing qualities of Saturn.

Hanuman is considered the only Hindu deity not affected by Saturn. Even Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are said to have succumbed to the negative influences of Saturn, but not Hanuman. Therefore, Hanuman is often worshipped as a remedial measure to mitigate the malefic effects of Saturn.

There are several stories demonstrating Saturn's deference to Hanuman. In the Ramayana, the demon king Ravana captured Saturn in an attempt to avoid bad luck, and bound him in chains. After Ravana was defeated in battle, Ram asked Hanuman and the other monkey warriors to take care of the woman, children, and wounded. It was during a search that he found Saturn trapped in a dungeon and rescued him. As a show of gratitude, Saturn blessed him, promising that those who prayed to Hanuman would have Saturn's negative effects reduced.

Another story, indicating the same result, is that Saturn once climbed on Hanuman's shoulders and began to impose his oppressive influence. Hanuman then immediately grew in size to the point where Saturn was sandwiched between Hanuman's shoulders and the ceiling. Writhing in pain, Saturn begged Hanuman to release him, and promised that those who prayed to Hanuman would have his negative effects mitigated.
Hanuman Chanting
http://lightonvedicastrology.com/images/photo_ham_hanumate.gif

If one doesn't have the time or interest to do a longer practice then chanting a japa mantra works very well. It can be easily memorized and repeated anytime, anywhere. Usually it's repeated
108 times, using a japa mala (beaded necklace), but any number will be beneficial.

The Hanuman Chalisa
The primary practice for worshipping Hanuman is reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, the Forty Verses in Praise of Sri Hanuman. It takes 5-10 minutes to recite depending on the melody and tempo. If it's chanted with concentration and sincerity then it's tremendously beneficial, and time well spent.

Itt's well worth it to memorize the Hanuman Chalisa, because then you can recite it anytime, anywhere: while you drive, wash dishes, fold laundry, etc. Memorization is the ancient Iphone App of the yogis, giving you an ultimate portable playlist. In 1992, I spent the whole summer memorizing the Chalisa, because I wanted to chant it during my first trip to India later that year. Once I got there, I tried to find rickshaw drivers that had Hanuman's picture somewhere in the cab, and would sing the Chalisa while we drove. I'll never forget how one driver in New Delhi was spilling over with enthusiasm as we sang it together all day. "Come on, just once more?!!" he'd ask laughing hysterically.

Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa in English

One drawback to the Chalisa is that chanting 40 verses is a long practice for most people, and obviously much more complicated than reciting Hanuman's short japa mantra.

Another drawback, especially for Westerners, is that the Chalisa is usually sung in Hindi. This means that most Westerners don't have a clue what they're saying. If they haven't learned the meaning, then it can seem like reciting gibberish for 5-10 minutes. This usually doesn't get people excited enough to make it a regular practice, let alone commit it to memory.

For many decades we have been doing research (at BharatiyaVidyaBhavan Institute in New Delhi) in the use of different dashas given in Parashari and Jaimini texts. While now some of the Jaiminidashas have come into effective use, the nakshatradashas of Parashara needed extensive and original research to discover effective predictive tools.

A controversy arose in the case of Yogini dasha mainly because of its shortness, being a dasha with only a 36 year cycle. Life is not a story of exact replication of events of the first 36 years in the next 36 years. How is the riddle to be unraveled?

1. Yogini dasha will have to be progressed and the starting point for each cycle will have to be different to avoid mechanical repetition of the readings for the first cycle. It was logical and he demonstrated with some horoscopes both in the classroom and at my place.

2. The one major problem in Yogini dasha is that with only eight Yogini it can only cover twenty four nakshatras out of twenty seven, leaving out three or necessitating the clubbing of the three with other nakshatras to make it all a harmonious scheme. Mr. Goel solved this problem by taking up the first three nakshatras, Ashwini, Bharani, and Krittika and clubbing them with PurvaBhadrapada, UttaraBhadrapada, and then Revati.

I am happy that with this book the riddle of Yogini dasha is solved very satisfactorily and there can be improvements on this research which is a major breakthrough. It is necessary to state so here because the late Hardeo Sharma Trivedi never used Yogini dasha because he thought that the second and third cycles of this dashawould lead to a mechanical interpretation. But I know of many Garhwali astrologers who use Yogini dasha invariably and prefer it to any other dasha for their major predictions. I also know that they have some secret technique of progressing it, which they have not revealed. This is similar to what is known as the Paramayudasha of Kumaon (Nainital and Almora areas) which is used only to calculate the span of life. The Paramayudasha works well, resembles Vimshottaridasha, but its calculation remains a secret even now.

If one riddle of Yogini dasha is solved, as has happened in this research, we can proceed confidently to its multifarious uses and applications in many aspects of life.

The trick is what nakshatra to progress to after Revati, the last nakshatra of the zodiac. It's linked with Ulka (Saturn) and in the Yogini dasha sequence Siddha (Venus) follows Ulka (Saturn). But the next nakshatra after Revati, is Ashwini, which is linked to Bhramari (Mars). This is a problem that V.P. Goel solved by combining or clubbing together the last three nakshatras, PurvaBhadrapada, UttaraBhadrapada, and Revati, with the first three nakshatras, Ashwini, Bharani, and Krittika. Then the progression after Revati jumps to Rohini, and the Yogini dasha sequence remains harmonious with Siddha (Venus) following Ulka (Saturn).

On the other hand, we don't want to sugar coat or white wash an interpretation either. So to give a realistic analysis, yet tinged with the hope of a positive outcome, through right effort, spiritual practice, God's grace, etc. is the most helpful. That's what makes it empowering. So, the main guideline is to ask yourself, "will this be helpful to the individual?". If it's not, then don't say it. It's easy to try to impress others, and bloat our own egos with astrology, with our "special" knowledge and amazing predictive skill. Avoid all that, by keeping sincerely wanting to help the individual. Then astrology will help you spiritually, otherwise it won't and on the contrary can cause you bad karma. These are the main points I've learned from my Jyotish guru, late SwamijiChinnappaSidhar from kerala, India

Sometime in 2006, you said 2008 would be a fantastic year for me - I would find my life-long partner, and the work I would choose to do would flourish. I am happy to report that both have become true. Rather than join another multinational, I set up the Asian office of a marketing consultancy. We are getting good clinets and assignments. I remain optimistic for the rest of the year and next. I have also re-connected with a former boss. I have known Fergus for 15 years, and have so many things in common. Our friendship, dreams and shared values have become the strong basis of our relationship such that we chose to marry civilly as of October 4. We are having a wedding party with family and friends in Bali on December 14. Thank you!"

This lady belongs to a ruling family of the Philippines and presently in  Bangkok. In September 2006 she asked me about her second marriage. I told her that her second marriage would be towards the end of 2008 and with an office colleague.

Natal Chart and Navamsha

First we confirm the promise of the natal chart.

Second Marriage Natal Chart
Natal Chart

In the birth chart, the 7th house is occupied by 8th lord Jupiter and aspected by Mars. The 7th lord Saturn is in the 6th house on the Rahu/Ketu axis.

Second Marriage Navamsha Chart
Navamsha Chart

In the navamsha the 8th lord, Jupiter again, has come to the 7th house this time on the Rahu/Ketu axis. A break in marriage is confirmed. Her first marriaged ended in Jupiter sub period. The second marriage is also seen as the 7th lord Saturn aspects the 7th house. Saturn is in the 10th house in the navamsha.

At the time of the consultation the period running was Venus-Jupiter. Jupiter gave break in marriage. The next sub period is of Saturn. Saturn is 7th lord in both the natal chart and the navamsha. This Saturn period is capable of giving marriage. The pratyantardasha of Ketu started on Aug 24, 2008. Ketu is placed in the 7th house in the navamsha. Saturn is in the 10th house with the 10th lord Venus in the navamsha. The running dasha of Venus-Saturn are connected in the 10th house and the partner will be related professionally.

JaiminiCharaDasha
In Jaimini'scharadasha, the period was Aquarius/Aquarius. Darakaraka (planet with lowest degrees) Mars is in the 7th house from Aquarius in the natal chart.

In the navamsha, Mars is in Aries and gives Jaimini aspect to Aquarius. The Aquarius charadasha was from November 24 2007 to November 24, 2008.

Initially, during the honeymoon period of our relationship, we remain strongly bonded by high oxytocin levels, and quickly overcome our hormonal blues by having more sex. Initially sex stimulates us to crave for more sex. This leads to rapid rises and falls in dopamine levels and corresponding rapid emotional fluctuations in our relationship. Later we become less and less interested in sex with our partner (perhaps because we subconsciously begin to associate him or her with the “lows” of the cycle, or perhaps because we grow tired of being used as a fix, and therefore feel less attraction), and now we try to prop up our dopamine level by becoming addicted to some kind of food or drug, or by becoming interested in a new sexual partner. Basically this type of behavior is the same for humans, primates, mammals and reptiles because it originates from the primitive part of our brain.

Von Urban’s solution to relieve single or otherwise frustrated women of sexual and bio-energetic tension is a warm douche at bedtime on alternate nights. The duration is from ten to twenty minutes while lying in a bathtub. The water is supplied by fitting some rubber tubing over the tap. This is very relaxing and not meant to induce an orgasm, but will help to provide a peaceful sleep. All diseases and health problems of the sexual organs are likely to be linked to unhealthy sex practices. This includes not only cancers and infections of the sexual organs but also in other parts of the body. Even tumor growth and metastasis are stimulated by stress hormones. Oxytocin counteracts the effects of stress hormones, and less stress means increased immunity and faster recovery. Oxytocin receptors have also been discovered in tumors. Therefore, oxytocin has a growth inhibiting effect on cancer, especially prostate and breast cancer - the more oxytocin the less tumor growth can be expected.
All these monkeys became disturbed emotionally as well as in their behavior when growing up, and they were unable to perform the sexual act successfully on maturity. Touch was emotionally more important to them than food. That is exactly what happens with anorexia nervosa. From this it is easy to see that the most curative method for these and other teenagers with emotional problems would be prolonged skin contact in a safe environment to raise oxytocin levels, and especially non-sexual, affectionate contact with someone of the opposite sex, as a bio-energetic boost. It was often worse for human infants who were raised in church or government institutions without even a cloth mother substitute. One of the worst aspects for a baby is the feeling of not being wanted, and especially if it experiences hostility from one or both parents. A difficult birth with forceps and glaring lights is traumatic, also surgery and a negative attitude of some of those present at birth. Even worse is the prolonged removal of the baby from the mother in most hospitals. All of these generate stress hormones while more than anything else babies need persistent contact with the mother or a suitable human substitute to generate soothing and bonding oxytocin.
Mantak Chia was a Chinese who had studied with various Taoist (or Daoist) masters before coming to New York 30 years ago. He seems to be the first modern Tao master who openly teaches previously secret Taoist methods of using sexual energy for rejuvenation, longevity and spiritual development. This system uses sexual energy as the primary fuel to be refined by spiritual practice. Instead of releasing sexual energy in form of an orgasm, it is channeled up the spine and then down the front in what is called the ‘Microcosmic Orbit’. In this way it remains available to heal and rejuvenate the body, while any surplus is stored in the area behind the navel. First you practice to learn the two basic skills of avoiding an orgasm and circulating energy in the Microcosmic Orbit. Initially it is advisable to practice alone with self-pleasuring. This is called ‘single cultivation’. You stop shortly before the orgasm, and with breath control and imagination draw the energy upwards. Chia calls this the Big Draw for men and the Orgasmic Upward Draw for women. When able to do this it is preferable to use ‘dual cultivation’ with a partner of the opposite sex as it involves exchanging male and female sexual energies.
The idea of celibacy for priests, nuns and monks is to spiritualize sexual energies as in meditation, rituals and other devotional practices. While this generally involves conscious exercises as in yoga, Christian mystics commonly transformed their energies without conscious awareness through intense devotion. If religious celibates fight to suppress their sexuality, they misunderstand the deeper reason for the practice of celibacy, and block their spiritual evolution on that level. If devotional practices do not lead to the transmutation of sexual energies then it is much better to find a natural outlet. Suppression always leads to problems. There are hundreds of different Tantric, Taoist, yogic and meditation techniques to transform sexual energy into kundalini or spiritual energy. Sexual energy is a denser part of our general life force energy, which can be liberated as kundalini energy and led upwards. Its ultimate purpose is to facilitate spiritual growth by developing our chakra system and higher energy bodies.
You may think I try to be cheeky or provocative with the statement: ”Enlightenment is in the vagina”, but this is one of the authenticated sayings of the Buddha, and it leaves us with the problem of how to understand or interpret this. It seems to turn our usual understanding of enlightenment on its head. The actual phrase in Sanscrit is: "BuddhatvamYosityonisamasritam."  This may also be translated as: ”Enlightenment is in the female sexual organ(s)”. This same view is expressed in various sacred Tantric texts. There appears to be much hidden sexual activity involving female consorts in some Tibetan Buddhist Sects. Western Buddhists, on the other hand, apparently do not know what to make of this saying, and therefore tend to ignore it, although I know of one Western Buddhist in Thailand who took this to mean that lots of intoxicating orgasmic sex is the road to enlightenment. But there is also another Buddhist saying that refers to orgasms as killing the inner Buddha.
Here a final quote from the Gospel of Philip: “If anyone becomes a son of the bridal chamber, he will receive the light. If anyone does not receive it while he is here, he will not be able to receive it in the other place. He who will receive that light will not be seen, nor can he be detained. And none shall be able to torment a person like this, even while he dwells in the world. “According to the Gnostic Gospels the main purpose of Jesus was to teach eternal life by re-creating the divine androgyne, and thus overcoming the separation of the sexes in the Sacrament of the Bridal Chamber. Being born again in this way with an immortal light body, any successful follower was no longer a Christian but became a Christ (Gospel of Philip). The real significance of the crucifixion and the crowning achievement of his life was the reappearance of Jesus and his continued teaching in the materialized form of his immortal light body. This was to demonstrate to his followers the truth of his teachings about the divine androgyne and the eternal life. Therefore, the real basis of the teachings of Jesus is sacred sexuality, the same as in Buddhist, Hindu and Taoist teachings.

Sattvic foods are the most desirable food in Hindu beliefs. Food that is none irritating to the body or mind. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. These should be organic and pesticide free. Hindu Beliefs are that these foods produce calmness of mind, wise and noble actions, and increases ones magnetic energy to attract people, places and things that are needed for great accomplishment. Hindu Beliefs are that food should not just be eaten for pleasure or survival, but to maintain a balanced mind, body and emotional state. A true follower of Hindu beliefs will not eat any food that is not first offered to God. God`s blessing before consumption is essential. Once the food is offered to God it is then eaten as blessed food. Many Hindu`s also practice fasting as both a spiritual pursuit and for a cleansing of the body. It is also seen as an act of mental discipline. There are many different forms of fasting one might do.Water only fast is the most traditional and done during whatever time frame is decided. This could be from as little as midnight to noon the next day, or up to seven days. Occasionally a twenty one day or even a forty day fast might be done. Some fast allows only fruits or fruits and vegetables or only one small meal of natural food each day.Another fast is to drink urine. On this fast you would eat nothing and only drink your own fresh urine for one, three, or seven days. It is recommended that you drink at least five liters of urine. If you do not urinate this amount you would drink the difference in pure water, but try to consume as much of the five liters as possible from your own fresh urine.

If urine is so terrible for us then how is it that mother nature made it so that at the time of greatest growth and development in its mother`s womb, that a baby would consume a liter or more of its own urine a day? Or is it that urine is so good and healthy for us that mother nature in God`s design of creation made us to drink this life giving fluid so that we would each grow into a healthy, fully developed baby? That same baby after birth will go on to drink another bodily fluid made by it`s mother in the form of mother`s milk. Some still believe that urine is a waste product and therefore should be avoided. But science has long known this not to be true. Your stomach first breaks down the food and digest it where it then enters the blood stream and travels to the liver and the liver detoxifies the blood and removes poisons, foreign chemicals, etc. and secretes them into the gall bladder for removal with bile movements or defecation.
After the blood is detoxed by the liver it flows to the kidneys. The kidneys organizes all the vital substances from the blood and filters out excess water, hormones, enzymes, anti-bodies, minerals, vitamins and so forth. This fluid forms what we call urine. The kidneys then puts some of this back into the blood and the rest is passed as pee. When you pee, 93% of that liquid is purified, crystallized water and 3% is urea. The remaining 4% is made up of the following vitamins, minerals and hormones: ascorbic acid(vitamin C), amino acids, bicarbonate, calcium, cysteine, DHEA, folic acid, glycine, iodine, magnesium, Dopamine, glucose, potassium, tryptophan, zinc, vitamins B6 and 12, creatine, manganese, nitrogen, proteins, anti-bodies along with genetic and organ information that can be read by sensors in your body to tell the immune system where your body needs the most work and where its healthy and doesn`t need as much attention.

Most of us are not in optimal health. By drinking your own urine you are reintroducing many of the necessary components to good health. The difference now is the components are already organized into a form that is readily available to the body without further processing. Most of us because of poor diet, lack of exercise, excess fat, stress, environmental conditions, etc have developed a body that does not absorb nutrients in an optimal way. We often pass needed nutrients in our urine because our bodies cannot absorb them quickly enough in its current condition, so the body believes those nutrients are excess and therefore passes them when we pee. With the use of urine therapy we reintroduce these precious nutrients and other biological information to the body in a readily absorb able state. Urine therapy contains an exact holographic image of body fluids, tissues and organ information. This information is read by sensors in the body much like a computer reads computer code. Hormones, another component of pee are also ready for use by the body. Hormones are incredibly complex and take a lot of energy to make by the body. For those that chose to drink urine, many will find there moods level, there skin clears and they can think more clearly because their hormones level out in a balanced, healthy way.

In America, one Dr.who was formerly a professor at one College of Medicine, founded a Research Institute. He found "peptides" in the blood which he later found to have anti-cancer properties. He then went on to find that these peptides were also in urine. Through great research which included working with a Japanese Institute, he began using a therapy protocol that included urine therapy. For several years he had great success treating cancer patients and after an astounding year in the 1980`s he was asked to do a television interview on a major network. On this nationally televised program he ridiculed mainstream medicine and pharmacology for being to rigid and profit driven to make use of such therapies that had little or no monetary value but that had great therapeutic value to the patient.

Soon after that interview he was attacked by the government and brought up on serious charges. Every couple of years they would bring up new charges and every time he would win the court cases. One of the biggest reasons for his victories in court was that the government would accuse him of making unsubstantiated claims, but he would then bring hundreds of patients that would testify how they were helped and even cured. Because of the many testimonies he won every time. But had he lost, he could have been sent to prison for many years. If he had been found guilty of even one of the charges he would have lost his license to practice and would have been forced to shut down. Finally after more than a decade of battling the government they stopped bringing charges, but only after depleting the DR. of all his savings. It took years to recover from that. But he is only one story among many. And it is not only the government in America. In Europe some have been attacked and all over the world there is a general sense of shame just to talk about this therapy.

E.V. Danoplulas, a Professor of Internal Medicine in Athens, Greece used urine therapy successfully for the treatment of liver cancer and prevention of the development of secondary tumors. With such success he was delighted to publish the results of his many case studies. To his great surprise he was immediately ridiculed and discredited and eventually was forced into retirement.Dr. Ryoichi Nakao of Japan who was trained as a M.D. both in the west and the east was severely reprimanded and ridiculed by his colleagues for his insistence on the efficacy of urine therapy. In Japan a prevailing business practice is based on the saying, "the nail that sticks up will be hammered down". Dr. Nakao M.D. was a big nail that stuck way up and every attempt was made to hammer him down. The medical establishment tried to discredit and shame him,(honor is of great importance in Japanese culture and to shame ones honor is very serious). But Dr. Nakao didn`t give in to the attacks and went on to be the founder of "The Miracle Cup of Liquid Institute".

home remedies for constipation

Bacterial infections of the vagina have other causes such as inflammation, other forms of bacteria, etc. So the most important thing to understand is that vaginitis is a condition of the vagina. Excess yeast is only one of those conditions. Probiotics are very useful for many forms of this condition. In the west yogurt with live cultures is the most recommended fermented food for this remedy. However, for those who are familiar with this site know, we feel dairy is not the best choice of food. Asia has a long history of fermented foods that have probiotics useful in remedying this condition. Kimchi, natto, miso paste and tempeh are among some of the best choices. In addition to being delicious, we believe they are great not only for protection against vaginal infection, but a whole host of health benefits.
Organic apple cider vinegar with mother is another great natural remedy for vaginitis. Begin each morning with 2 teaspoons in eight ounces of water. If you find you have a yeast infection you can also apply this vinegar externally to the vaginal area. Garlic is a natural antifungal and antibacterial that has many health bringing qualities. Try to include more of this food in your weekly diet. Experiment with different ways of preparing until you find ways that are comfortable for you to include this life giving food. You can also apply this externally. To get the most out of garlic whether eating or applying externally you need to either chew or grate it so that the fluid from inside comes out which has the healthy benefits. For those that just can`t eat the food you can supplement or try a combination of eating and supplementing since real food has other components that work with each other that you don`t find in supplements.
For a Native American remedy try Goldenseal. This herb is a natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Many knowledgeable in this area agree that this herb is excellent for conditions affecting the eyes, intestines, nose and vagina. Using a diluted infusion as a douche can be very effective for some forms of vaginitis. For internal use take 800 - 1000 milligrams daily in capsule form. Break the total dosage into 2 or 3 doses during the day. You can also take this in tincture form with water two or three times daily. Please consult your herbalist about how to prepare these.Remember that all illness is an imbalance of body, mind and spirit. To regain balance we recommend eating more whole foods, fish and sea vegetation. Meditate and practice daily deep breathing. Actively practice a spiritual faith of your choosing.

Helen Mayberg, head of the Rotman Research Institute at the University of Toronto said it like this, " Medicine and healing are like a room with a hole in one window. You are trying to set a thermostat- it`s 100 degrees outside and you want it to be 70. If you set the thermostat to 70, that doesn`t work. But if you set it to 50 it fools the system and gets the temperature back to 70. Both drugs and placebos- chemicals and beliefs- may impose different chemical pressures on the brain that resets the temperature. The real problem, of course, is that no one knows how to fix the hole in the window, or even where exactly it is. It`s like a thousand piece puzzle with no picture on the box." It is the opinion of the authors of this site that some part of your mind does know where the "whole in the window" is and how to fix it. God certainly knows. So if you give the body what it needs from nature and you put your faith in the treatment and God, a state of health and well being is achievable.
